Child-like Faith

Imagine this: You are talking with a small child (three or four years old) and you ask them this question:
You: Do you think it is possible to color the sky purple?
Child: Yes! Just take a big purple crayon and color the sky!
I am amazed at the faith that small children exhibit. Children tend to have this “Why not?” attitude when it comes to life.
Is it any wonder why Jesus tells us to come to him with child-like faith?
When we have that child-like faith we tell God “Why not? Who says that is not possible?” The Bible says that “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” –Mark 10:27-
When we have that “all things are possible” attitude with God we bring him and us joy.
This I know: We can dream and ask big because we have a BIG God!

Roller Coaster Ride

As a kid I remember going to amusement parks and riding roller coasters. I thought they were fun. The ups and downs and ups and downs, even the loops, were exciting because I didn’t know what was next to come.
Life can be a lot like a roller coaster.
In the past few months life has seemed a lot like a roller coaster; both personally as well as professionally. The ups and downs and ups and downs. When I get tired of the roller coaster and I have nowhere else to turn I run to Jesus.
No matter what happens I know that Jesus is faithful! He has proven himself time and time again. This I know: God is faithful! And “Never once did we walk alone!”

Spiritual Detective

I was spending some time with the Lord today and was telling him about some of my frustrations recently and here is what I learned:

The Lord told me to read in 1 Timothy 3.

So I read the chapter; it talks about Leaders of a church or organization and the qualifications of such people. Here is the verse that stood out to me.

1 Timothy 3:10
10 And let them also be tried and investigated and proved first; then, if they turn out to be above reproach, let them serve [as deacons].

I read this verse and said to the Lord ," That's it!" One of my many roles as a leader is to help people find a place within the organization and intern the Body of Christ where they can use the gifts that God has given them.

I know what you must be thinking ," That's nice but how do you do that?" I'm so glad you asked.  :)
Here is what I sense is the process:

It is OK to ask prospective volunteers and teachers etc to tell me about themselves and for me to become a "detective" and finding their "right fit." Sometimes it takes a few tries to find that "right fit" but even that is better then just "throwing" someone into doing something that they are not qualified for or don't have the gifts to do. Then finding out later that this is the case and having to deal with a big mess. This is not a good position for anyone to be in.

So, I will take my time and not rush through the interview process and do my best to help everyone find their "right fit" in the Body of Christ.

Perspective

Evey wonder how and why we loose our perspective on things?  How and why do our perspectives change?

Psalm 16:8- "I have set the LORD always before me, because he is at my right hand I will not be moved."

When we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, everything else works out.

Its when we take our eyes off, that we sink.

"But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”

Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”  ~Matthew 14:27-30~

This became especially true recently. I knew what I had to do but I was afraid to do it. What am I talking about? I knew it was time to move out of my house and get my own apartment. Everything about this process was scary to me. Despite the fear I began looking for apartment. I looked and looked and looked but nothing was it. Not wanting to give up (because I knew I had to do this even if it killed me, for my mental and emotional health, and my peace.) I kept looking and tried not to get discouraged. I finally said to the Lord one day in frustration," Lord, I cant keep doing this, if you want me to have my own place then you will have to give it to me." The Lord very graciously said me to."My Child, don't give up I have and will provide for you." Knowing that the Lord was right I said." Ok Lord, I trust you." It wasn't until a few days later that I found a decent place for a good price. I put in my application and waited. A week later I get a call and I'm in! So I get all my stuff moved in and can finally relax.

My new place is great! I love the option of having peace and quiet when I want. I feel the peace when I walk in the door and Jesus and I can talk and spend time whenever I want. I have learned a lot through this and it really was worth the time and effort that it took.

Remember, keep your eyes on Jesus and the rest works out.
